Hey up,

October 1, 2008 – 4:28 pm

Hey up, it’s been a while since we posted a fantastic update, so here we go! Firstly can we plug the multi award winning Heroes Projects next ‘inclusive; club night ‘Frogtastic’ at The Frog and Bucket in Manchester on Wednesday 19th November. Tickets can be obtained from The Heroes Project on 07946 424075, it should be another great night for our many clubbers from the learning disabled community and their friends and if you fancy joining Our Greg, Miss Sabs and Terry for a unique and top night out, get in touch a.s.a.p, cos admission to ‘Frogtastic’ is strictly by advance ticket only. Now then, The Heroes Online Radio Show continues to go from strength to strength and we are proud to have attracted listeners recently from Australia, Portugal, Switzerland and the USA, plus loads of local support as well. Some of our guest co-presenters have not only enjoyed fantastic personal experiences, they have also played their part in creating some unique and entertaining radio programmes. Just to say thanks to Dave Foran for standing in when ‘Our Greg’ was climbing mountains recently and to mention Janice Whiteside, who was a complete star when she came onto the programme a couple of weeks ago and we were pleased to be able to make ‘live’ contact with her sister in London so that Janice could wish her a happy birthday on the programme, it was a great MRO moment. Farrah Thomas also did really well as a guest co-presenter but told us she preferred to make music rather than play it, so we are arranging to take Farrah into the recording studios to make her own CD courtesy of our ‘Melody Maker Experience’. Anyway back to MRO, we are really pleased to report that we’ve received lots of applications from people wanting to get involved in the programme and we’ll be featuring lots of new guest co-presenters over the next few months on the world’s first ‘inclusive’ radio show on MRO. How good is that then? Gotta go, the microwaves on fire. Tez ‘n’ Greg and Miss Sabs.

Thanks To All

July 10, 2008 – 7:52 pm

Hey up, and another short update from Terry Day and ‘Our Greg’. Can we just say huge thanks to all those who have been in touch, we’ve had loads of positive comment and people have been really complimentary and generous with their support of ‘The Heroes Online Radio Show’. It’s been more than 10 years since our last radio broadcast was so rudely interrupted, so it’s really great to be back and we’re havin a complete ball. It’s also fantastic that we are able to give people with learning difficulties the opportunity to be involved, included and part of making ‘Quality’ radio! (OK then, point taken - ‘acceptable radio’). And since we’ve taken over from Dave Foran on a Saturday morning, we’ve introduced loads of new ideas including ‘What the Local Papers Say’, ‘The Eleven O’clock Appointment’ and ‘The Saturday Singsong’! And on July 12th we’re hoping to play our next trump card when we launch ‘The People’s Play-list’, where you can influence the style and direction of the programmes by submitting tunes that we can ‘copy and paste’ into the programme as we go along. The idea is not to play tunes as specific requests, but to feature them as valid contributions for everyone else’s pleasure. So, along with our guest co-presenters, we really can create the world’s first ‘inclusive’ radio show on MRO. How good is that then? We gotta go, the phones ringing. Tez ‘n’ Greg

Hello world!

June 7, 2008 – 12:30 pm

A huge hello from Terry Day and our Greg who present The Heroes Radio Show, WOW what can we say! The last four weeks have been a bit of a blur really. On May 28th Terry went onto the Phil Wood programme as a guest and left MRO with a bloody radio programme. It could only happen at MRO and a week later we broadcast our first ‘Heroes Online Radio Show’ to the world. We decided to link the programme directly to our existing work with the learning disabled community and set another radio ‘first’ by inviting guest co-presenters onto the programme each week, making proper inclusive radio! (Well done MRO). The response has been really positive and we’ve had some great feedback and loads of support, so thanks for that. We’ve only been on the station 2 minutes and ‘Dairylee Dave’ has moved us already blah blah blah! To Saturday mornings from 10am till 12 noon starting July 5th and we’re all dead chuffed to bits…OK time to mow the lawn. Terry & Greg.

Calling all budding DJ’s & ‘Radio Presenters’
‘The HEROES’ Radio Show is ‘On the Air’

FANTASTIC NEWS! - ‘The Heroes Project’ has secured its very own radio programme to be broadcast right across the world every Saturday afternoon between 2.00pm and 3.00pm starting on Saturday 7th June 2008.

We have teamed up with Manchester Radio Online, who have been kind enough to give us our very own show! As part of this very unique and exciting initiative, we are providing the opportunity for all our programmes to be co-presented by you.

We would like to hear from anyone with learning difficulties who would like the opportunity to pick the playlist, play their favourite songs, say hello to their friends and chat with us ‘On Air’ in a ‘Real Life - Real Time’ radio show that will be broadcast across the globe.

Every week we will feature a different guest who will help to present the programme and introduce the music. No experience is necessary because we will be there to help and make sure everything goes according to plan.

Best of all your friends can log onto ManchesterRadioOnline.com and listen in to the ‘live’ broadcast for themselves.

David Foran from Manchester Radio Online said “We recognise the value of ‘The Heroes Project’ and the impact of its work! What better way to show our support than give this great little organisation a radio programme of its own to provide and promote opportunities for Manchester’s Learning Disabled community and its friends.

Anyone interested in this fantastic opportunity can contact ‘The Heroes Project’ on 07946 424075 or by email info@heroesproject.org.uk

As with all ‘Heroes Project’ initiatives, places are available on a strictly ‘First Come – First Served’ basis! So good luck and who knows – You could soon be ‘Rockin all over the World’ on ‘The Heroes Online Radio Show’ courtesy of ‘The Heroes Project’ and Manchester Radio Online.Com
